Division Series Is Open: Eight Teams Left and the October Hours Keep Moving
Eight clubs are still playing. The Wild Card round is closed. The Division Series is a best-of-five, and it is live. Broadway Sports Network is filing the games that have a final and the hours that are only posted. A series winner is NOT FOUND. No club has closed a series in the material used for this draft.
The file stops at Sunday night, Oct. 4, plus the Monday hours that were still scheduled on the morning of Oct. 5. Monday's Game 2 finals are NOT FOUND. Those games had not been played when this count was checked. A Wednesday reader should treat Monday as unfilled here rather than as a frozen lead.
Chicago leads Cleveland one game to none. Game 1 on Saturday was a 3-0 White Sox win. Game 2 is posted for Monday at 5:00 p.m. ET on TBS and truTV. ESPN's game card used 5:00 p.m. A later hour on a different card is not used. The Monday final is NOT FOUND.
Tampa Bay leads New York one game to none. Game 1 was a 1-0 Rays win on Saturday at Tropicana Field. Attendance was 40,542. Jonathan Aranda homered to right-center in the third inning, listed at 417 feet, off Gerrit Cole. It was Aranda's first postseason hit. Drew Rasmussen did not allow a hit until two outs in the eighth. Bryan Baker pitched a perfect ninth for the save. ESPN's recap says Baker converted 41 of 44 saves in the regular season, including the last 30. Game 2 is posted for Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET on TBS and truTV. The same recap lists Cam Schlittler to start for the Yankees and Freddy Peralta to start for the Rays. That is a posted starter note. It is not a result. The Monday final is NOT FOUND.
Milwaukee leads San Diego two games to none. That lead is not a clinch. A best-of-five can still come back from a two-game hole, and this note will not write an ending that has not happened. Game 1 was a 3-2 Brewers win. MLB.com described it as a 3-2 final before turning to Sunday. Game 2 was a 4-3 Brewers win at American Family Field. Jackson Chourio singled with two outs and two strikes against Mason Miller, and the Brewers walked off. MLB.com calls it the third postseason walk-off win in franchise history. One earlier walk-off was Mike Moustakas in 2018 against Colorado. Another was Nyjer Morgan in 2011 against Arizona. Sunday's final is 4-3. The series final is NOT FOUND.
The Game 2 box was messy in a way the club's own story already admits. Logan Henderson made his postseason debut and uncorked a wild pitch after a two-out walk to Manny Machado. Ty France followed with a run-scoring single. Michael King retired the first 14 Milwaukee batters. Brice Turang told MLB.com the day was not his best and that teammates picked him up. Christian Yelich told MLB.com the club still has to play cleaner baseball on the road. Those quotes explain a 4-3 win. They do not explain a series win. San Diego still has home games posted.
Atlanta and Los Angeles are tied at one game each. Game 1 on Saturday was a 5-3 Dodgers win at Dodger Stadium. Attendance was 50,194. Baseball-Reference lists the clubs at 94-68 for Atlanta and 100-62 for Los Angeles entering that game. Public cards did not agree on the first-pitch clock, so the start time is NOT FOUND. The final is not in dispute. Atlanta scored once in the sixth and twice in the ninth. Los Angeles scored twice in the fourth and three times in the sixth. Los Angeles did not bat in the ninth. Atlanta had 4 hits. Los Angeles had 8. Neither club had an error. Tarik Skubal got the win. Victor Mederos took the loss. Evan Phillips got the save. Skubal went six innings with one run and seven strikeouts.
The Game 1 scoring file is short. Teoscar Hernandez homered in the fourth. The card lists the fly ball at 431 feet. Freddie Freeman scored on that play. Atlanta trailed 2-0. Sean Murphy homered in the sixth. The card lists that fly ball at 421 feet. The game was 2-1. Kyle Tucker homered. The card lists that fly ball at 408 feet. Hernandez scored to make it 4-1. Max Muncy homered. The card lists that fly ball at 354 feet. The game was 5-1. Ozzie Albies homered in the ninth. The card lists that fly ball at 432 feet. Ronald Acuna Jr. scored to make it 5-3. Phillips finished it. Austin Riley grounded out with a runner on. That is the whole scoring list from the ESPN game card.
Game 2 on Sunday was a 3-2 Braves win, and the series came back even. MLB.com says Ray Kerr opened and held Los Angeles scoreless for 2 and 2/3 innings. Didier Fuentes followed him. Kerr and Fuentes combined for 19 of Atlanta's 27 outs. Michael Harris II had a triple in the fifth and a run-scoring double in the seventh. ESPN's story says Muncy homered with Los Angeles down to its last strike, and Raisel Iglesias retired Josue De Paula for the last out. Chris Sale did not start. MLB.com says he was held for Game 3. Tyler Mahle is the posted arm for a possible Game 4. Those are posted plans. They are not Game 3 facts. The pitcher of record for Game 2 is NOT FOUND on the league story used here, so no winner's name is attached beyond the 3-2 final.
The Wild Card path into this round is closed, and the scores from that round are not refiled here. CBS reported the matchups that produced these eight clubs. The Yankees advanced past Boston. The White Sox swept Houston. The Braves advanced past Philadelphia. The Padres swept Chicago's National League club. Tampa Bay had a bye into the Division Series. Cleveland had a bye. Milwaukee had a bye. Los Angeles had a bye. CBS described Tampa Bay as the top American League seed. It described Cleveland as the second seed at 85-77. ESPN's Game 2 card lists the White Sox at 84-78. Milwaukee's 103 wins are the regular-season figure in that CBS account. None of those sentences is a Division Series clincher.
The hours still on the board, from the CBS schedule note, are the useful half of this file.
Monday, Oct. 5, still reads as scheduled in that note. Chicago at Cleveland is at 5:00 p.m. ET. New York at Tampa Bay is at 8:00 p.m. ET. Both are American League Game 2s. Both finals are NOT FOUND.
Tuesday, Oct. 6, moves the National League series onto the other club's field. Los Angeles at Atlanta is posted for 6:00 p.m. ET. Milwaukee at San Diego is posted for 9:30 p.m. ET. Both are Game 3. Both finals are NOT FOUND.
Wednesday, Oct. 7, is the next American League travel day. Cleveland at Chicago is posted for 4:00 p.m. ET. Tampa Bay at New York is posted for 8:00 p.m. ET. Both are Game 3. The same Wednesday note lists two National League games only if a series is still going. Los Angeles at Atlanta is posted for 6:00 p.m. ET as a possible Game 4. Milwaukee at San Diego is posted for 10:00 p.m. ET as a possible Game 4. A star on that schedule means the game exists only if the series has not ended. This draft does not know whether those stars will still be live on Wednesday morning. The finals are NOT FOUND.
Posted hours after Wednesday are NOT FOUND in the schedule extract used here. Guessing a Game 5 date would invent a clock. If a club is eliminated before a starred game, that game comes off the board. This page cannot remove it early, and it cannot award the series either.
Unfiltered means the 2-0 Milwaukee lead stays a lead. It does not become a pennant. The 1-1 Atlanta series stays tied. The two American League series stay at 1-0 until Monday's games produce a box. Eight teams are left because four series are unfinished. The October hours keep moving because Tuesday and Wednesday are already printed. The names of the clubs that will play in the next round are NOT FOUND.
A one-game lead is a small thing in a best-of-five, and it is still the whole American League file. Chicago can be tied on Monday. Tampa Bay can be tied on Monday. Neither of those sentences is a pick. Both are a description of what one loss would do to a 1-0 series. Milwaukee can end its series as soon as the next win. San Diego can force the series home and keep playing. Atlanta and Los Angeles are already even, so Tuesday's Game 3 gives one of them the first lead of the series. If that game is not yet final, the lead is NOT FOUND. That is the entire state a useful note can carry on a Wednesday that still has unplayed baseball in front of it.
