Ole Miss Took Oxford: LSU Fell 32-24 as Week 4 Goes to Knoxville

Ole Miss beat LSU 32-24 in Oxford on Saturday night. That is the posted result. It is not a preview. No. 8 Ole Miss led 24-7 at the half. No. 7 LSU tied it at 24 in the fourth. Trinidad Chambliss scored from 14 yards with 6:14 left. J.T. Lindsey ran in the two-point try. The Rebels are 3-0. The Tigers are 2-1. Week 4 now points at Knoxville.

Broadway Sports Network is not replaying last week's preview of this game. That preview had a kickoff and a Grove Stage clock. This piece has a final. Chambliss passed for 363 yards and two scores. He ran for the last one. Kewan Lacy scored from 5 yards in the first quarter and later left with a left shoulder injury. Attendance was 70,033 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

College GameDay was in Oxford on Saturday morning. It will not be in Oxford next Saturday. ESPN is taking the show to Knoxville for Texas at Tennessee. That is the next national date on this sport's week. Ole Miss now points at a road Saturday against Florida. The ranked Saturday that just ended is no longer the object. Neyland is.

What Actually Happened After LSU Tied It

Ole Miss led 10-0 after the first quarter and 24-7 at the half. Lucas Carneiro opened it with a 37-yard field goal. Lacy's 5-yard run made it 10-0. Chambliss hit Traylon Ray from 21 yards for 17-0. Dilin Jones scored from 2 yards for LSU. Chambliss then found Deuce Alexander from 20 yards with 5 seconds left in the half. That is the posted 24-7 break.

LSU scored 17 unanswered after the break. Sam Leavitt ran 4 yards to make it 24-14. Leavitt later hit Weston Watkins from 26 yards to make it 24-21. Scott Starzyk's 23-yard field goal tied it at 24 with 11:21 left. Chambliss then drove 75 yards in 13 plays. He faked a handoff and ran 14 yards to the pylon. The two-point try made it 32-24.

Lane Kiffin used his last timeout on fourth-and-goal from the 6 with 1:03 left. Jaylon Braxton intercepted the throw. That is the posted ending. Pete Golding's club kept the building. Kiffin's return is now a final, not a sunrise show.

Do not turn those coaching facts into a speech. They are posted geography. The live fact is simpler. Ole Miss scored 8 in the fourth after the tie. LSU scored 0 after the tie. The last snap that counted on offense was a 14-yard run and a two-point rush.

Friday in Winston-Salem Already Had a Final

Miami beat Wake Forest 33-20 on Friday, Sept. 18, at Allegacy Financial Stadium. The crowd was listed at 32,147. Darian Mensah completed 30 of 34 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns. He completed his first 24 throws. He had completed 35 straight dating to Florida A&M. Those are posted conference marks. They are not a Knoxville forecast.

Mensah hit Joshua Moore from 9 yards on the first drive. He hit Elija Lofton from 21. He hit Malachi Toney on a short throw that made it 31-7 in the third. Wake Forest answered. Gio Lopez threw for 312 yards and three scores. Jack Foley caught a 23-yard touchdown. Carlos Hernandez caught a 17-yard touchdown that made it 31-20 with 14:56 left.

Miami's last two points were a safety after a holding call in the end zone. Ethan O'Connor intercepted Lopez at the 2:24 mark. Miami is 3-0. Wake Forest is 2-1. That Friday final is already three days old on this Monday file. It still matters because it is the first FBS result of the week that just closed.

Broadway Sports Network is not treating Friday as a warm-up for Saturday. Friday was a conference game with a national window. Saturday was a different building with a different show. Both now have scores.

Knoxville Is the Saturday Object

Texas visits Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 26, at noon ET. ABC has the game. ESPN's College GameDay is in Knoxville. The university said the show will sit on the Ayres Hall lawn from 9 to 11 a.m. ET. The last hour moves inside Neyland Stadium before the noon kick. That is the posted site. This desk will not invent a Saturday score. The game has not been played.

Texas is 3-0. The Longhorns beat UTSA 30-6 on Saturday night in Austin after beating Ohio State 24-23 the week before. Arch Manning threw two early scoring passes to Cam Coleman against UTSA. He finished 16 of 32 for 161 yards and left late once the game was in hand. Attendance was 103,753. Texas now leaves home for the first time this season.

Tennessee is 3-0. The Volunteers beat Kennesaw State 42-9 on Saturday night in Knoxville. Faizon Brandon threw for 178 yards and one score and ran for another. Daune Morris ran for 116 yards and a touchdown. The long one was 42 yards. That is the last posted Tennessee number. Next Saturday is the SEC opener for both clubs in the same building.

The noon ET window is 11 a.m. CT. Hold both clocks. The reader in Austin is an hour behind the reader on the Ayres lawn. The game does not move.

Oxford Is Closed. It Still Explains Why Knoxville Is Next.

Last week's BSN file treated Saturday as a test that had not been taken. This week's file treats Saturday as a test Ole Miss passed and LSU failed. Kiffin walked back into the stadium he left. The Rebels kept it. GameDay's third Oxford date is now a closed morning.

The next national Saturday does not owe Oxford another visit. It owes Knoxville a first look at No. 1 Texas in Neyland. Tennessee's own release called it the 13th GameDay visit to Knoxville and the program's 29th featured appearance. Those are posted counts. They are not poetry.

Miami's 33-20 sits next to Oxford as the other posted national result from the week that just ended. Winston-Salem did not flip a No. 1. It flipped a Friday night. Oxford flipped a 24-7 half into a 32-24 final. Knoxville has not flipped anything yet because it has not been played.

The Other Saturday Pointers Are Clocks, Not Scores

The boards already name other Week 4 windows. Oklahoma at Georgia. LSU at Texas A&M. Oregon at USC. This desk will treat those as calendar pointers. It will not invent those scores. It will not invent boxes for clubs that have not snapped the ball this week.

LSU now points at Texas A&M after the Oxford loss. That is a posted next date. It is not this column's object. The object is the show's next campus. The show is going to Ayres Hall.

Ole Miss now points at Florida. That is also a posted next date. The Rebels do not travel with the set. They leave the building where they just beat LSU. Week 4 for Ole Miss is a road Saturday. Week 4 for the sport's national show is Knoxville.

How Saturday in Oxford Changes the Week in Front

A 24-7 half is supposed to end a ranked night or at least keep it quiet. It did not stay quiet. LSU scored 17. Ole Miss scored 8 after the tie. Chambliss did that without Lacy on the last drive. Ray had 115 receiving yards. Dilin Jones ran for 106 for LSU. Leavitt passed for 158. Those are the posted boxes. They are not a Knoxville speech.

GameDay's Oxford morning is now packed. The 70,033 in the building watched a former coach fail to leave with a win. The next national Saturday does not stay in Mississippi. It moves to a hill next to Neyland.

Texas 24-23 against Ohio State is still the Week 2 fact that put Texas at No. 1. Texas 30-6 against UTSA is the Week 3 fact that kept the Longhorns unbeaten. Tennessee 42-9 is the Week 3 fact that kept the Volunteers unbeaten. Those three posted results now share a Saturday. Only one of them has a sunrise show on the Ayres lawn.

What This Desk Will Not Do With Saturday

This desk will not invent a score for Knoxville. This desk will not invent a score for Oklahoma at Georgia. This desk will not invent a score for LSU at Texas A&M. The only college finals in this file are the ones already posted. Ole Miss 32-24. Miami 33-20. Texas 30-6. Tennessee 42-9. Texas 24-23 against Ohio State remains last week's posted night.

Last week's BSN file treated Oxford as the next object. This week's file treats Oxford as a closed object. The next object is already on the board. It is in a different state. It has a noon kick and a show that starts on a lawn at 9 a.m. ET.

Sports Unfiltered is the name on this site for a reason. The unfiltered version of Week 3 is that Kiffin came back and left with a loss. The unfiltered version of Week 4 is that the show now moves to Knoxville because Texas is walking into Neyland.

If you want a tidy national narrative, you will not get one here. You will get the posted final in Oxford and the posted clocks for Saturday. Ole Miss took Oxford. LSU fell 32-24. Week 4 goes to Knoxville. That is the week.
